Skate covers the hardware a board is built from: decks, trucks, wheels, bearings, grip tape and complete setups, plus the tools to assemble them. A deck is chosen by width and concave, trucks by the axle width that matches it, and wheels by diameter and durometer. Compare prices on skate hardware across shops and find the best price on the part you need.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Skate category cover?

Skate hardware: decks, trucks, wheels, bearings, grip tape and hardware sets, complete boards, and the tools for assembling and adjusting them.

How do I choose a deck, trucks and wheels?

Start with the deck width, which follows your shoe size and where you ride. Match the truck axle to that width so the wheels sit under the edges of the board. Wheel diameter changes how fast the board rolls, and durometer changes the grip: a softer wheel absorbs rough ground, a harder one is faster on smooth concrete.

How do I find the best price on skate hardware?

The same part often costs different amounts at different shops. Each product page here lists the shops that carry it, with price and stock, so you can pick the lowest price that is available.

What are skate decks and wheels made of?

Decks are pressed from plies of maple. Wheels are cast polyurethane, which is why their durometer rating says more about how they ride than the name printed on them. Bearings are steel, sometimes ceramic, and usually carry an ABEC number or the maker's own rating.

How do I look after a skateboard?

Keep the deck dry, since water swells the plies and takes the pop out of it. Check the kingpin and axle nuts before you ride, and rotate the wheels so they wear evenly.
